Why Set up a Pinterest Business Account?
If you’re serious about Pinterest for business, it’s important to set up your Pinterest Business Account. There are many advantages to this including:
- It’s free to sign up for a Pinterest Business Account and Pinterest helps you do it with their guide here.
- You’ll get access to Analytics tools and also a Business Profile for Pinterest.
- You get more control over branding and content attribution.
- You can sign up for a fresh new Business account for Pinterest OR you can upgrade your existing personal account to a Pinterest Business account to access all the business features.
Here are the steps to setting up your Pinterest Business account:

1. Adding Your Pinterest Details
Once you have your Pinterest Business account set up, all you have to do is go to your settings and fill out your profile details.
You’ll then add your profile photo/image, the location of your business and any other helpful information that your ideal audience should know.
2. Claim Your Website
Now that you’ve set up a Business Account, you’ll be able to claim your website, as well as your Esty page and any other social media accounts you want to list. This will help you to keep consistent branding across Pinterest.
Claiming your website ensures that your name and profile picture appear on every pin you share/save along with your content. This happens no matter whether you created the pin or somebody else pinned it from your site. Your branding goes with the pin!

3. Check Your Analytics
Once you claim your Pinterest Business Account, you’ll be able to see the performance data on all of your pins that you create. You’ll do this by checking your Pinterest Analytics… situated right in the dashboard.
4. Check the Business Terms of Service
Your Pinterest Business Account will have a different Terms of Service to your personal account. Check the Terms of Service for your Pinterest Business Account here. Compare it to the Terms of Service for a personal account. Pinterest is supportive of the B2B and B2C potential of businesses using their platform, so take a moment to familiarise yourself with their terms and conditions when you open or update to a Business account.
5. Use the Pinterest Resource Page
One of the biggest benefits of updating or opening a Pinterest Business Account is the awesome resources offered by Pinterest for businesses.
Pinterest is dedicated to working with brands and encouraging them to use Pinterest as part of their overall social media marketing strategy. This is a clear “green light” for brands or businesses to market on Pinterest. Note: the usual rules of “remember to make it about the user” apply here. Don’t just sell, provide great content that your ideal audience or follower would be searching for on Pinterest.

8 Steps to Creating the Perfect Pinterest Business Account
1. Establish Credibility with a Pinterest Business Profile
As you’ve seen in our intro above, it takes just a minute to do this, by setting up your Pinterest account for Business.
2. Optimize for Pinterest Search with Keywords
You should use Keywords in your Pinterest Business Account description (ie the “About Me” section) to maximize your ranking for search. Pinterest can be optimized for keywords relevant to searches and also uses a handy hashtag system.
3. Add Pinterest elements to your website
Here is where you add the tools that I mentioned above – like the Save and Follow buttons so that people can follow you, find your content and share it.
4. Set up your Pinterest Post Scheduler
I recommend that you use a scheduling tool like Tailwind to schedule your pins to Pinterest. It’s much easier than doing it manually and you get a lot of added benefits from using a 3rd-party tool.

5. Optimize your website landing pages for mobile
You’ll be getting traffic from Pinterest to your website so make sure you’re ready! But you need to be even more ready for mobile. 80% of Pinterest users access the platforms from a smartphone so makes sure your website is mobile optimized.
6. Create consistent imagery
Not only with your ideal customer or blog readers recognise your images if you create images in a consistent style, but they are more likely to read and share your content if the imagery on the pin is similar to your landing page.
This also applies to running Pinterest ads – they will perform better if your branding is consistent across pins and website.
7. Showcase products and services with Pinterest Boards
Get savvy with your Pinterest boards and showcase the main boards at the top of your profile. Think about what your ideal customer would be seasrching for on Pinterest, and create boards to help them find that content.
8. Create informative, helpful content
Ensure that your pins lead to more awesome, helpful content. 30% of consumers want to see pins with links to more information, so give it to them.
